It is important that children are not late for school. Late arrival in the classroom can be upsetting for your
child and can affect the smooth running of the school. Any child arriving late must be taken to the school office to be signed in and will be taken to their class. It is vital that all children are registered for fire regulations.
HOME / SCHOOL AGREEMENT
The legal and moral obligation to educate a child is upon the parent. The school is provided to assist the parent in discharging that obligation. Only with the co-operation of parent and teacher can the education of your child be accomplished in full.
All schools are obliged to provide a home/school agreement that commits all partners in a child’s education to do their utmost to work together for the ultimate benefit of each pupil. The Staff and Governors of Elysian International School aim to meet, maintain and build upon the aims and objectives of the school by: - being welcoming and open to all children, parents and guardians and offering opportunities to work in partnership for the benefit of each child, providing a stimulating, happy and secure learning environment for your child.
Providing a balanced and broad curriculum that extends beyond the classroom and is tailored to meet your child’s individual needs.
Developing your child’s independence and thinking ability offers a high standard of teaching across the curriculum aiming to ensure your child’s safety and well-being whilst at school. Keeping you informed regularly of your child’s progress, keeping you informed about the curriculum, contact you promptly with any concerns we may have encouraging children to have healthy eating habits and to develop a healthy lifestyle considering any complaints you may have by following the procedures laid down in the school policy, it is hoped and expected that parents and guardians will wish to help the school to meet the aims and objectives by: - working together with the school for the benefit of their child ensuring their child attends school regularly and providing an explanation if their child is absent ensuring their child attends school on time. School starts at 8.45 am

Equally, each pupil is expected to: - do my best at school display good manners show consideration to others arrive on time keep to school rules ask if I don’t understand make decisions for myself dress appropriately.
Parents are invited to sign and return a Home School Agreement when a child starts at the school, indicating their intention to fulfil their part of the agreement.
When a child moves into Class 3, parents and pupils are asked to revisit the Home School Agreement and parents and pupils are asked to sign and return a copy to the school indicating their intention to fulfil their part of the agreement.
Behaviour & Discipline
Our aim is to encourage self-discipline, courtesy, consideration for others and respect for the school environment. Positive praise is essential and staff reinforce good work, good behaviour and co-operation.
We have a reward system for courtesy and merit. The reward system positively encourages self-discipline and respect for others.
There are some individuals who need careful support and supervision and these are subject to our special educational needs policy. Sanctions, such as the withdrawal of privileges, may be applied after careful investigation by the headteacher or class teacher. In the rare cases of persistent or careless misbehaviour, parents will be informed and invited to take part in discussions with staff to devise strategies to assist the child to modify and improve his/her attitude and behaviour.
Exclusion
An exclusion will very rarely be used and then only in the interests of the health and safety of the child concerned, or others within the school. Parents will be notified in writing at the earliest possible moment, of the reason for the suspension or expulsion. All actions will follow the School regulations.
